Permission Marketing Assets
Seth’s post today, Kingmaker – who can make a hit, talks about the value of the ability to generate a hit, the value of permission assets. To echo Seth, my post today is also about Permission Marketing Asset.
“Permission Marketing Asset” – a marketing term popularized by Seth Godin.
Before the term, I really had hard time articulating the strategy, importance of social media presences and what was I doing building out a plurk account(with more than 50K fans and friends combined) and a Facebook fanpage(with more than 15K fans). These two permission marketing assets later become main attraction to its buyer.
From mailing addresses, fax, phone, emails, newsletter, rss subscription then to now twitter feed and facebook fanpage… all permission assets in different form, contact information provided by people voluntarily as privilege for future communication with them.
Due to misused and cost of operation, permission assets such as mailing address, fax, phone, email and newsletter are no longer as cost effective as they once were. Thanks to all the social networks around, permission marketing assets such as fb fanpage or twitter turn out to be extremely effective. Traffic diagram below depicts hits generated by one of a social media permission marketing assets.
Do you have this kind of hits generating ability? If you don’t, will you willing to pay a premium to someone with this ability to generate hits for you?
